About

Calvary Cemetery is a perpetual care cemetery and was deeded on February 1, 1881. The cemetery contains several noteworthy individuals that have been laid to rest: 

Fr. Patrick Garaghty 1844-1895
1st Catholic Priest in Hot Springs


Rev. P.A. McGowen 1807-1895
Born in Antrim, Ireland
Ordained 1840

John King 1862-1938
Two-Time Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient

Rt. Rev. Monsignor William J. Carroll VP 1878-1953
Pastor of St. Mary's Church from 1913-1953

General Information

Cost of a plot: $500
One Casket per plot
Two  Cremains can be buried in one plot

Payment Plans:
1. One payment at full price
2. Deposit for 1/4 of price with 3 payments made once every 30 days until paid in full.

Calvary Cemetery will provide cemetery easement paperwork and purchase agreement.



Opening and Closing of Grave

Paid at time of service to Calvary Cemetery, c/o St. Mary's Church.

Calvary Cemetery will be responsible for arranging with the grave excavator the location and time of O/C of grave.



Cemetery Activities

  • March for Life Sunday in January to the unborn marker from St. John's Church
  • Flags are raised on Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, and Veteran's Day by the Knights of Columbus
  • Pick Up Sticks on Saturday morning before Mother's Day and in October each year
  • All Soul's Day Mass, November 2nd, is on the back side altar

The special section allocated for Our Precious Ones, Babies Born Before Viability, is located in St. Joseph's Section on the right side of 2nd and School St.
